Published on the occasion of Hirst’s exhibition, at Gagosian Gallery’ in Davies Street, London in October 2010, Poisons + Remedies publishes the artist’s new series of large-scale oil paintings depicting the skull to represent poison, and pills to represent remedies. The books plastic cover is a reference to blood bags and saline drips. There is a book for the poisons in one side of the sleeve and the remedies on the other side. There are 76 images displayed - all of the poisons + remedies works Hirst has made will be included, plus two studio shots. The texts are by Gary Shteyngart in both volumes. Gary Shteyngart is a critically acclaimed American novelist. The loosely inserted duratran is an x-ray of the artists skull shown face on and in side profile.
